Ex-Minister Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Mumbai

In a shocking incident, former Maharashtra minister and senior Congress leader Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his residence in Mumbai on Saturday night. According to preliminary reports, the attack occurred at around 9:30 PM when Siddique was returning home after a meeting. Eyewitnesses state that unidentified assailants approached him and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The police have launched an immediate investigation, but the motive behind the killing remains unclear. Sources suggest that Siddique had not reported any recent threats, which has left both his family and the authorities puzzled. Mumbai Police Commissioner Amit Patil assured the public that a special task force has been deployed to apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible.

The murder of Baba Siddique has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, with political leaders expressing their condolences and condemning the act. Congress spokesperson Priya Dutt called it a “brazen attack on democracy” and criticized the government for failing to ensure the safety of political leaders. “If someone of Siddique’s stature is not safe, what message does it send to the common man?” she questioned.

Many have raised concerns over the increasing crime rates in Mumbai, once considered one of the safest metropolitan cities in India. With this tragic incident, questions are being asked about the effectiveness of law enforcement in maintaining peace and order. The state government, however, has urged citizens to remain calm and allow the police to carry out their investigations without speculating.
