Farooq Abdullah Vows to Keep Fighting for Article 370
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah reaffirmed
on Monday his party’s commitment to pursuing the restoration of Article 370,
which granted special autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to reporters,
Abdullah emphasized that the fight is far from over and that the issue is
directly tied to the “honour and dignity” of the people of the region.
“We will continue to knock on the doors of the Supreme
Court,” Abdullah stated, expressing hope that the apex court will eventually
rule in their favor. He stressed that the abrogation of Article 370 in August
2019 has deeply impacted the people of Jammu and Kashmir, both politically and
emotionally.
The former chief minister underlined that his party’s
struggle is not just a legal matter but a fight to restore the identity and
rights of Jammu and Kashmir. “Our legal team is dedicated, and we will explore
every avenue to bring back what we lost,” he added.
While the abrogation of Article 370 by the central
government remains a contentious issue, Abdullah’s statements come as a strong
reminder of his party’s stance and continued efforts to challenge the decision.
The issue of Article 370's restoration has long been a
flashpoint in the political discourse surrounding Jammu and Kashmir, with many
regional leaders advocating for its reinstatement to restore a sense of
normalcy and pride in the region.
