Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel allocates Rs 220 cr for four-laning of Kalupur and Sarangpur railway overbridge.
This comes as a part of Rs 440 cr Kalupur Railway Station Redevelopment Project, as per PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’ vision, the focus is on citizen’s ease of living through railway station development and infrastructure development, as per official release.
The CM has allocated this amount for renovation including four laning of the old Kalupur-Sarangpur railway overbridge as part of the Ahmedabad Railway Station Redevelopment Project.
These overbridges are being widened under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana which was launched by PM Shri Narendra Modi in 2010.
Kalupur Railway Overbridge (Manu Bhai Parmar Bridge) was constructed 108 years ago in 1915 and Sarangpur Railway Overbridge was built 83 years ago in 1940. Presently Kalupur Railway Overbridge has three lanes with footpaths and Sarangpur Railway Overbridge is two lanes.
Considering the age, safety, and increasing traffic load both Kalupur and Sarangpur railway overbridges will be demolished and reconstructed into a lane structure by the Railway Land Development Authority, as per the release.
Also, CM has allocated Rs 52.83 cr for the construction of a new overbridge at the existing railway crossing LC-100-2E on Radhanpur city and Bhilot road. This approved overbridge will connect Radhanpur, Bhilot, and Suigam and will facilitate goods transportation and travel for citizens.
CM has decided to provide financial assistance for the construction of these three bridges under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. The allocation includes Rs 106.67 cr for Kalupur Railway Overbridge (Manu Bhai Parmar Bridge), Rs 113.25 cr for Sarangpur Railway Overbridge and Rs 52.83 cr for Radhanpur Bridge totaling Rs 272.75 cr.
