Low Voter Turnout in J&K: 11.11% Cast Vote by 9 AM, PM Modi Urges People to Turn Up

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections 2024 saw a slow start on voting day, with just 11.11% of eligible voters turning up to the polling booths by 9 AM. The Election Commission reported that although polling stations were fully operational, the early hours witnessed sparse crowds.

In response to the low turnout, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media, urging the people of Jammu and Kashmir to come out and vote in larger numbers. "Every vote strengthens democracy," the Prime Minister emphasized in his message, asking citizens to ensure their voice is heard.

As polling progresses, election officials are hopeful that the turnout will pick up as the day goes on. The weather in most regions has remained clear, providing no significant hindrance for voters to reach polling stations.

The Election Commission has made special arrangements to ensure smooth voting, including enhanced security and streamlined processes. Political analysts predict that a higher voter turnout could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the elections.

With the stakes high, political parties continue to rally their supporters, urging them to make their votes count in this crucial election. As of now, the state waits to see whether the numbers will rise in the coming hours.
