New Delhi based nutritionist Garima Nagpal has highlighted everyday habits that women should avoid when dealing with common health concerns such as iron deficiency, PCOS, hypothyroidism and recurrent urinary tract infections. In a recent Instagram post, she stressed that small daily choices can significantly influence long term wellbeing and that paying attention to early warning signs can help prevent complications.

According to Nagpal, women with iron deficiency should avoid drinking tea or coffee within 45 minutes of meals, as these beverages may interfere with iron absorption. Those experiencing worsening symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome are advised to limit high glycemic index snacks, especially during evening cravings, since such foods can aggravate blood sugar fluctuations.

For women dealing with severe premenstrual syndrome, she recommended ensuring adequate omega 3 intake throughout the month. Citing guidance similar to that published by the National Institutes of Health, she noted that omega 3 fatty acids may help reduce PMS severity. Women with hypothyroidism symptoms should avoid skipping breakfast consistently, while those facing hair thinning are cautioned against crash dieting or extremely low calorie meal plans.

Nagpal also addressed intimate health concerns. Women prone to recurrent urinary tract infections should avoid holding urine for extended periods, a practice that can increase infection risk. For vaginal dryness, she underscored the importance of staying adequately hydrated. She further advised women over 30 experiencing low estrogen symptoms to incorporate strength training, as muscle building exercises can support hormonal balance.

The nutritionist added that frequently touching the face during stress can worsen acne flare ups and that excessive phone use at night may disrupt sleep hormones, potentially affecting libido. She emphasised that her advice is informational and not a substitute for professional medical consultation.
