PDP Considers Joining Cong-NC Alliance: Farooq Abdullah Welcomes Move

In a significant political move, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has hinted at joining the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance ahead of the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections. This potential collaboration has stirred the political landscape, with veteran leader Farooq Abdullah welcoming the idea.

“This is a great thing,” Abdullah commented, responding to the PDP’s signals of unity. The former Chief Minister and current NC leader expressed optimism about the growing support for the alliance, which aims to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the region.

The PDP, led by Mehbooba Mufti, has not officially confirmed its participation, but party insiders reveal that talks are underway to finalize the details. Mufti, in her recent public addresses, has emphasized the need for a united front to protect the region’s interests post the abrogation of Article 370.

Political analysts believe that this potential alliance could be a game-changer, offering a strong opposition to the BJP, which has maintained a dominant position in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years.

As election preparations intensify, the possible alliance of these three major regional parties is expected to redraw the political map of the Union Territory. A formal announcement from the PDP is anticipated in the coming days, with the political battle heating up as the polls approach.

The election dates are yet to be announced, but with such alignments on the horizon, the stage is set for a high-stakes contest.
