Ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, Ajaz Guru, an independent candidate from Sopore, said that he has not seen any development in Kashmir in the last 40 years.
Speaking to ANI, he said, "I am 58 years old, and I have not seen any development in Kashmir, there are no roads, there is a lot of traffic, electricity problems and no jobs."
"From the last 15-20 days, they are saying that we will fix Kashmir, they have 70 years, what have they done?" He asked the political parties of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) formed an alliance ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir polls.
Earlier on Sunday, Lok Sabha member and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief Engineer Rashid said the alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) was aimed at "raising the voice of Kashmiris."
Both parties have come together in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
"The main aim of the alliance is to raise the voice of Kashmiris. We will fight to find a solution to the Kashmir problem...We will support Jamaat-e-Islami candidates and they will support our candidates. There will be friendly contests in some seats," Rashid said.
Moreover, the Congress and the National Conference are also contesting the assembly elections in an alliance. NC will contest 51 of the 90 seats, Congress will contest 32, with the two parties agreeing to a friendly contest in some seats. A few seats have been left for smaller coalitions.
This will be the first assembly election since Article 370 was abrogated in 2019. There are a total of 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, of which 7 seats are reserved for SCs and 9 seats for STs. .
Jammu and Kashmir elections will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. It will be counted on October 8.
