5 DRUG PEDDLERS ARRESTED IN KULGAM AND BARAMULLA

On June 15, 2023, the police in Kashmir arrested five drug peddlers in separate incidents in Kulgam and Baramulla districts. The arrests were made during routine patrolling and naka checking.


In Kulgam, the police arrested two drug peddlers identified as Javed Ahmad Bhat and Raof Ahmad Ganie. Both the accused were found in possession of 120 grams of Charas-like substance and 60 grams of Cannabis powder like substance.


In Baramulla, the police arrested three drug peddlers identified as Mohd Arif Magray, Sameer Ahmad Dar, and Gulzar Ahmad Lone. All the three accused were found in possession of 143 banned capsules (SPS PHEN Plus), 50 grams of Charas-like substance, and 38 Codeine Phosphate bottles.


The police have registered separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) in all the five cases. The accused have been shifted to police custody for further investigation.


The arrest of these five drug peddlers is a major success for the police in their fight against drug trafficking in Kashmir. The police have been continuously conducting raids and operations to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the Valley.


The police have appealed to the people to come forward and provide any information about drug peddlers in their areas. They have also assured that the identity of the informers will be kept secret.


The arrest of these five drug peddlers is a positive step in the fight against drug trafficking in Kashmir. The police need to continue to take strict action against the drug peddlers and ensure that drugs are not sold illegally in the Valley.
