Leh, Ladakh - In a bid to strengthen the preservation and promotion of the Bhoti language, a 7-day Bhoti Grammar training program has been organized for Bhoti masters and teachers at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Leh. The intensive training aims to enhance the linguistic skills of educators, enabling them to impart a deeper understanding of the language to students.

Bhoti, also known as Bodhi, is a Tibetic language spoken by the people of the Ladakh region in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It holds significant cultural and historical value and plays a crucial role in maintaining the unique identity of the local communities. Recognizing the importance of preserving this indigenous language, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) has taken the initiative to provide specialized training for Bhoti masters and teachers.

The 7-day training program, which commenced on Monday, is being conducted by renowned linguists and experts in Bhoti language and grammar. The curriculum includes in-depth sessions on Bhoti phonetics, vocabulary, syntax, and grammatical structure. The participants will also receive guidance on effective teaching methodologies, lesson planning, and evaluation techniques specific to Bhoti language instruction.

The training sessions are designed to be interactive and engaging, allowing the participants to actively practice and apply their newly acquired knowledge. The trainers emphasize the importance of hands-on learning, encouraging the teachers to incorporate practical activities, storytelling, and language immersion techniques in their classrooms.

Speaking at the inaugural session, the Chief Guest, Mr. Rigzin Spalbar, the Chairman of LAHDC, stressed the significance of preserving local languages as repositories of cultural heritage. He expressed his gratitude to the trainers for their dedication and urged the participants to make the most of this opportunity to enhance their linguistic skills.

The training program has received an overwhelming response, with over 50 Bhoti masters and teachers from various schools across Leh district attending the sessions. The participants expressed their enthusiasm and eagerness to deepen their understanding of Bhoti grammar, enabling them to deliver more effective language instruction.

The DIET Leh, known for its commitment to educational excellence, has provided all the necessary infrastructure and resources for the training program. The institute believes that empowering educators with advanced linguistic skills will have a cascading effect on students, fostering a love for their mother tongue and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh.

As Ladakh opens up to the world with increasing tourism and connectivity, the need to safeguard its indigenous languages becomes even more critical. Efforts such as the 7-day Bhoti Grammar training program play a vital role in ensuring the language's continuity and vibrancy, preparing a new generation of Bhoti speakers and custodians.

At the conclusion of the training program, the participants will receive certificates of completion, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to the preservation of the Bhoti language. The DIET Leh, along with the LAHDC, remains committed to providing further support and initiatives to strengthen Bhoti language education in the region, nurturing a sense of pride and belonging among the local communities.
