‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’: Lt Guv emphasizes on importance of traditional water bodies

“Traditional ponds and water sources sustain life. Civilizations and Economies have prospered around water sources. In our quest to revive traditional water bodies, the Panchayats of district Doda, Samba, Bandipora, Budgam, Kathua, and Ramban, besides a large number of conscious citizens from all walks of life have come forward and shown a strong resolve”

In the 14th edition of Awaam Ki Awaaz, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha lauded all the people and Panchayats of J&K who have worked in a direction to revive traditional water bodies of the UT.



In his radio programme, Lt governor emphasized that every citizen should undertake the responsibility of conserving the earth and its resources. He said that the efforts made by the people will be pivotal in balancing both economic development and the environment.



“Traditional ponds and water sources sustain life. Civilizations and Economies have prospered around water sources. In our quest to revive traditional water bodies, the Panchayats of district Doda, Samba, Bandipora, Budgam, Kathua, and Ramban, besides a large number of conscious citizens from all walks of life have come forward and shown a strong resolve”, the Lt Governor said.



Shedding light on the effects of climate change being noted all over the world, the Lt Governor said that the climate change is telling us to do something to strive for optimal utilization of the existing water resources.



He also stressed keeping water bodies safe and clean in every panchayat. Lt Governor said that all sections of the society should take active participation to protect water bodies.
