Although Omar Abdullah's party National Conference is one of the party among the 20 oppositions who has decided to boycott the inaugaral ceremony of New Parliament building, still he praised the look of the building and calls it 'pretty impressive'. He also tweeted and said the building is a 'welcome addition'.

He also asserted that there was a need for new building of Parliament.

He said, "Setting aside the brouhaha about the inauguration for a moment, this building is a welcome addition. The old Parliament House has served us well, but as someone who has worked there for a few years, a lot of us often spoke amongst ourselves about the need for a new & improved parliament building. Better late than never is all I’ll say & this one looks pretty damn impressive.

On May 28, PM Modi will inaugurate the new Building. Oppositions have deplored this decision as they have claimed that it should be the President who should inaugurate not the Prime Minister as President is the head of the country. They condemned Govt's decisions and decided to boycott the opening ceremony jointly as they claimed this is a humiliation towards President and Constitution
