Second CRPF Jawan Found Dead in Jammu and Kashmir in Two Months

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier was found dead in his camp in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday. The cause of death is suspected to be a case of suicide

Sepoy Ajay Kumar, a CRPF jawan, was found dead in his camp in Chursoo, Awantipora, south Kashmir, on Saturday morning. The cause of death is being investigated, but it is suspected to be suicide by gunshot.The police are probing the incident.Kumar, who was a resident of Uttar Pradesh, had joined the CRPF in 2018. He was posted in the 182nd battalion of the force.

The cause of the suicide is not yet known, but police are probing all angles. They are also questioning Kumar's colleagues and family members to get more information about the incident.

This is the second incident of a CRPF jawan being found dead in the past two months in Jammu and Kashmir. In June, a CRPF jawan was found dead in his quarters in the Budgam district of the Kashmir Valley. The cause of his death was also not known.

The spate of suicides among security forces personnel in Jammu and Kashmir has raised concerns about their mental health. In 2022, at least 10 security personnel were found dead in the Union Territory, most of them in suspected cases of suicide.

The government has taken a number of steps to address the issue of mental health among security forces personnel, including setting up a helpline and providing counseling services. However, more needs to be done to ensure that the mental health of these personnel is adequately taken care of.The death of Sepoy Ajay Kumar is a tragic reminder of the challenges that security forces personnel face in Jammu and Kashmir.
