KULGAM, May 24: In view of the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Adha, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), today chaired a meeting of district officers to review and finalize necessary arrangements for the smooth celebration of the festival.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized uninterrupted water and electricity supply across the district. He directed the Jal Shakti Department to deploy water tankers wherever needed to avoid any shortage and asked KPDCL to ensure power availability during the festive days.
The District Sheep Husbandry Officer informed that a sufficient number of sacrificial animals, including goats and sheep, are available in the district and that designated sale outlets and mandies will be set up in the main town for public convenience. Similarly, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer assured the availability of poultry birds across the district.
To ensure the availability of quality food items in the market, the DC instructed the formation of joint market-checking teams to monitor the sale of bakery items, confectionery, milk, meat, chicken, vegetables, and other essential commodities. He also directed the Assistant Director, FCS&CA, to ensure that ration distribution is completed well before Eid.
Municipal authorities were instructed to maintain sanitation in towns, mosques, and Eidgahs. Executive Officers of the Municipal Committees were asked to designate and inform the public about proper sites for the disposal of animal waste (offal) to ensure cleanliness.
The Traffic Police were asked to ensure smooth vehicular movement and issue traffic advisories if necessary, while the District Police were directed to deploy adequate security at major shrines, Eidgahs, and other sensitive locations.
The Health Department was also directed to keep medical facilities on standby to address any health emergencies during the festival.
The meeting was attended by ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri, Tehsildars, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and KPDCL, AD CAPD, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees, DSHO, CAHO, ARTO, Deputy Traffic Police Officer, and other concerned officials.
