UDAIPUR: The Ministry of Tourism convened a two-day State Tourism Ministers Meet on 14-15 October 2025 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, bringing together Tourism Ministers and senior officials from all States and Union Territories. The meet is aimed at advancing the Prime Minister’s vision of “One State: One Global Destination,” which seeks to develop at least one world-class tourist destination in every State and UT.
The initiative aligns with the Union Budget 2025-26, which outlined a twin strategy for Destination Development and Destination Management as part of India’s broader tourism transformation agenda under the Viksit Bharat roadmap. During the conference, State and UT Tourism Ministers presented their vision on two draft frameworks - ‘Development of 50 Destinations’ and ‘Providing Performance Linked Incentives (PLI)’ - emphasising private sector-led tourism hub development and destination management based on a PLI-based Destination Maturity Model.
The event began with opening remarks by Secretary (Tourism), Ms. V. Vidyavathi, followed by an address from Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who highlighted the importance of collaborative action between the Centre, States, UTs, and industry stakeholders in developing globally benchmarked destinations.
Over the course of the two days, Ministers and officials from across India will showcase one potential destination per State/UT for global development. Each presentation will outline the proposed strategies, key attractions, and investment opportunities to position the destination on the world tourism map. The second day will focus on consultations regarding the draft Integrated Tourism Promotion Scheme Guidelines, aimed at strengthening India’s holistic approach to domestic and international tourism.
The meet underscored the significance of policy convergence, collaborative planning, and stakeholder engagement to ensure sustainable and globally competitive tourism ecosystems. According to officials, the conference will help streamline efforts to attract private investment, enhance destination infrastructure, and create employment opportunities in tourism-related sectors.
Shri Shekhawat said, “India has immense potential to emerge as a global tourism powerhouse. Through collective efforts of the States, UTs, and industry, we can develop destinations that meet international standards while preserving local culture and heritage.”
The Ministry of Tourism aims to ensure that every region contributes to building a vibrant, sustainable, and globally recognised tourism sector, reinforcing India’s commitment to economic growth and cultural promotion under the Viksit Bharat vision.
