Rigzin Chorol became an officer in the Indian Army on Sunday (October 30), realising the ambition of her late husband and rifleman Rigzin Khandap. Leutienet Chorol received her commission as an officer in the Indian Army today following 11 months of rigorous training at the Officers' Training Academy. At the ceremony, Lt. Chorol held her son in her arms and stated, "I fulfilled the dream of my husband who wanted to be an army officer."

Narrating her journey to ANI Chorol said, "my journey began in December 2021 when I joined the OTA and after 11 months of rigorous training while staying away from the only child I did it and I am sure my (late) husband would be proud to see me becoming an officer."

Rigzin Khandap, the spouse of Lt. Rigzin Chorol, was a rifleman in the Ladakh Scouts' Zedang Sumpa battalion who died while performing his duty. Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, colonel of the Indian Army's Ladakh Scouts and Jammu and Kashmir Rifles regiments, has congratulated Lt Rigzin Chorol on her accomplishment.
