Hockey- A popular new attraction amongst girls of Kashmir

With its increasing popularity, Hockey is becoming the new attraction amongst the girls of Kashmir. The girls are developing passion for the Sports and thus encouraging women empowerment in the valley.


The girls are exhibiting their interest in participating in all kinds of Sports. This will give them an opportunity to showcase their talent and build a bright future.


Kashmir Hockey Association and Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council are organizing various hockey tournaments in the valley. The girls are participating in these tournaments with full spirits.


Kashmir girls are showing commendable performances in all types of Sports such as basket ball, water sports, football, martial arts, hockey and rugby. In turn, the government of Kashmir is also providing them with all kinds of facilities by organizing a series of tournaments.


The organizer, President of Kashmir Hockey Academy shared with ANI how the games are being conducted at night to ensure that youth stays away from drugs and keeps themselves busy playing sports for their own benefit. They also hope that the national game of the country can bring the youth back from drugs. Preparations are being made for other Sports as well, and turfs are being laid for hockey. They look forward to inaugurating the night facilities for cricket matches very soon.


A hockey player said that he appreciates games being organized at night, and that they are excited about football and hockey. Playing at night helps everyone to participate actively as all are busy during the day, either with school or other work. He wishes that someone from Kashmir represents the country on the world stage.


Sports in Kashmir are helping girls in maintaining their physical fitness and reducing anxiety. Sports are also being encouraged to keep youths away from drugs. It is being expected that the government in Kashmir will help the girls with more facilities and better infrastructure, so that they can improve their performances and compete at the national level.
