A police patrol party found an IED (improvised explosive device) on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the outskirts of Jammu on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. The device was safely destroyed by a bomb disposal squad without any injuries.

The IED was found near the Narwal Morh area of the highway. The police party was on a routine patrol when they spotted the suspicious device. They immediately cordoned off the area and called in the bomb disposal squad.

The bomb disposal squad used a robot to inspect the IED and determined that it was a viable explosive device. They then safely detonated the IED.

The police are investigating the matter and are trying to ascertain who planted the IED and why. This is the second IED that has been found in Jammu in the past two weeks. On August 9, an IED was found near the Tawi Bridge in Jammu. The IED was also destroyed by a bomb disposal squad.

The police have stepped up security in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the recent IED blasts. They have also issued a warning to the people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
