Drone monitoring and RFID chips would be part of the three-tier security plans for the next Amarnath Yatra, according to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar
The IGP Kashmir, speaking to media on the sidelines of a wreath-laying ceremony for a police officer killed in the Kreeri, Baramulla encounter, said that police and other security agencies have been assessing security measures for the forthcoming Yatra for the past month.
“This year’s three-tier security plans for pilgrims will include drone surveillance and RFID chips,” the IGP said, adding that “security forces will ensure an incident-free and smooth yatra.”
He claimed they lost a gallant police officer in an accidental encounter. “The encounter resulted in the deaths of three Jaish-e-Muhammad militants. “We have to bear the losses in chance contacts at times,” remarked the IGP. He claimed that the three JeM militants were plotting an attack on Srinagar that was foiled.
