In an incident in the Drach neighbourhood of Shopian, security forces neutralised three local terrorists affiliated with the banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), according to the police on Wednesday morning.

Last night, a confrontation between security personnel and terrorists started.

Another altercation started early this morning in the Shopian neighbourhood of Moolu, and according to ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, it is still going on.

Three local terrorists affiliated with the banned JeM organisation were killed in a clash at Drach Shopian. The second confrontation at Moolu is currently ongoing. Further information will be provided, Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.

Hanan Bin Yaqoob and Jamshed were the two terrorists who were killed. According to the police, they were responsible for the recent murder of special police officer Javed Dar in Pulwama.

The police tweeted that the two terrorists who were killed, Hanan Bin Yaqoob and Jamshed, were responsible for the recent murders of SPO Javed Dar on October 2 at Pinglana in Pulwama and a West Bengali labourer on September 24.

On October 2, the police and security forces conducted a joint operation in the Baskuchan neighbourhood of Shopian in J-K to neutralise a local terrorist from the outlawed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

As per ADGP Kashmir, the terrorist was recognised as Naseer Ahmad Bhat of Nowpora Baskuchan, Shopian.

A joint cordon and search operation was conducted by Police, Army (44R), and CRPF (178Bn) in the hamlet Baskuchan area of Shopian based on specific information provided by the Police about the presence of a terrorist there.

During the search operation, the concealing terrorist fired randomly at the joint search team as they neared the probable location. The joint search party effectively replied, which led to an encounter.

At the scene of the confrontation, the police found evidence, weapons, and ammunition, including an AK-47. The police claim that all of the collected materials had been entered into case files for additional investigation.
