Kashmiri schools begin their 10-day summer holiday on Monday

Authorities have announced a 10-day summer holiday for all institutions up to upper secondary level in Kashmir and winter zone Jammu, despite the oppressive heat

B K Singh, the department’s principal secretary for school education, has issued a formal directive in this regard.


In an earlier letter to the administrative division, the Directorate of School Education in Kashmir proposed the valley’s summer break beginning during the specified time. The proposal was accepted by the SED.


The Kashmir valley is currently experiencing oppressive summer heat, with Thursday’s daytime high of 34.2 degrees Celsius marking the season’s highest reading.


An official order has been issued in this regard by Principal Secretary School Education Department, B K Singh.


Earlier, Directorate of School Education Kashmir had written to the administrative department proposing the summer vacation in the valley from the said period, which was approved by the SED.


Kashmir valley is in the middle of sweltering summer heat with day temperature hitting the season’s highest of 34.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
