Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed officials to ensure seamless arrangements for both Muharram and the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, stressing security, traffic management and basic public facilities.
Sinha chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the two major religious events. He asked all departments to work in close coordination so that devotees, mourners and pilgrims do not face inconvenience during movement, rituals and travel.
The Lieutenant Governor directed the administration to prepare a comprehensive traffic management plan, especially in sensitive and high-footfall areas. Security forces and civil departments have also been asked to remain alert and ensure smooth crowd control.
For the Amarnath Yatra, officials have been told to ensure proper registration, health facilities, sanitation, drinking water, oxygen support and emergency response systems along the pilgrimage routes. The administration also reviewed arrangements at transit camps and key halting points.
Sinha said the focus must remain on safety, discipline and coordination. He directed officers to identify vulnerable points in advance and make sure that pilgrims receive timely assistance.
Muharram arrangements were also discussed in detail. The LG asked officials to ensure peaceful observance, smooth movement of processions and adequate facilities for people participating in religious gatherings.
The directions come as Jammu and Kashmir prepares to manage two important events at the same time. The administration has been asked to maintain close communication with religious leaders, security agencies and local officials.
Officials said all departments have been placed on alert and final arrangements are being checked on the ground.
