Kulgam, August 3: In a major boost to the healthcare infrastructure of South Kashmir, a cardiologist has been posted at District Hospital Kulgam, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local population. The appointment marks the return of specialized cardiac care services to the district after several years.

The development comes as a result of the sustained efforts of Hon’ble Minister for Health, Education, and Social Welfare, Miss Sakina Itoo, who took personal initiative to address this critical gap in the local healthcare system.

Residents have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Cabinet Minister and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam for making the posting possible. The presence of a cardiologist in the district is expected to ease the burden on tertiary care hospitals in Srinagar and Anantnag, and provide timely and accessible care for patients suffering from heart-related ailments.

“This is a huge relief for hundreds of heart patients in Kulgam who were forced to travel long distances for consultations. We thank Miss Sakina Itoo for prioritizing this need and ensuring its fulfillment,” said a local resident.

The move is being widely welcomed and is expected to benefit a large number of people, particularly the elderly and those with chronic heart conditions, by bringing specialist care closer to their homes.
