The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the property of incarcerated Hurriyat (G) leader Ayaz Akbar in Srinagar’s Shalteng area. The action was taken after the investigation revealed Akbar’s involvement in funding terrorist activities in the valley. The attached property includes a residential house and a plot of land.

Ayaz Akbar, who was a close aide of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was arrested by the NIA in 2017 for his involvement in terror funding. He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail and is facing a trial in the case.

The NIA had earlier conducted several raids at the premises of Hurriyat leaders in the valley and unearthed a huge amount of cash, mobile phones, and other incriminating documents. The investigation revealed that the money was used to fund terrorist activities in the valley.

According to the NIA officials, Akbar was a key player in the terror funding network in the valley and had received funds from Pakistan-based terror outfits. The funds were then used to fuel stone-pelting and violent protests in the valley, which caused huge damage to public and private property.

The agency had also found links between Akbar and some of the Pakistani officials in the high commission in New Delhi. The officials were reportedly using their diplomatic status to facilitate the transfer of funds to separatist leaders in the valley.

The NIA officials had earlier attached the property of other Hurriyat leaders, including Shahid-ul-Islam, Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, and Asiya Andrabi. Shahid-ul-Islam, who was the media advisor of Geelani, was also arrested in the terror funding case and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.

The attachment of property is a part of the NIA’s strategy to choke the flow of funds to separatist leaders in the valley. The move is aimed at curbing the terrorist activities in the valley and preventing the loss of innocent lives.

Meanwhile, the NIA has urged the people of the valley to come forward and share any information regarding the terror funding network. The agency has assured that the identity of the informants will be kept confidential.

The move has been welcomed by the security forces and the local people in the valley. The officials have said that this will act as a deterrent to the separatist leaders and will help in restoring peace in the valley.

The attachment of the property of Ayaz Akbar has sent a strong message to the separatist leaders in the valley. The move is a signal that the government is determined to take strict action against those who are trying to destabilize the peace in the valley. The NIA has assured that the investigation will continue and more arrests are likely to be made in the case.
