The massive counter-terror operation "Operation Sheruwali" entered its 31st consecutive day in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Sunday, with security forces continuing intensive search and surveillance efforts in the dense forested areas of the Manjakote sector.
Launched in late May following intelligence inputs about the presence of suspected terrorists in the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan belt, the operation is being jointly conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF and other security agencies. Security forces have maintained a strong cordon around the area while carrying out round-the-clock searches in challenging terrain.
Officials said troops are conducting area domination patrols, surveillance operations and targeted searches across forest routes and suspected hideouts. Advanced monitoring equipment, drones, sniffer dogs and other tracking resources have also been deployed to aid the operation.
The operation began after contact was established with suspected terrorists during an intelligence-based mission in the Gambhir Mughlan area. Since then, security forces have repeatedly expanded the search grid to prevent any escape attempts and eliminate potential militant threats in the region.
Authorities have strengthened security checkpoints and increased vigilance across nearby areas. Local residents have been urged to report any suspicious movement, while officials reiterated that maintaining peace and security in the Pir Panjal region remains a top priority.
Despite the prolonged operation, security agencies remain committed to tracking down the suspected terrorists and ensuring the area is fully sanitized before concluding the mission.
