A drone was shot down by the security forces on Sunday in the border district of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police informed that a drone activity was observed in the Talli Hariya Chak area early in the morning. A search party was sent to investigate the activity. Kathua is the district that shares an international border with Pakistan.
“In the early morning today, the police search party observed a drone coming from the border side and fired at it,” police said.
The police further informed a payload was attached to the drone which is being screened by the bomb disposal experts.
Notably, there has been significant augmentation in the drone activities in the border areas in J&K in the last few years, resulting in the deployment of more security personnel and advanced gadget across the International Border and Line of Control (LoC).
Last year, a drone laden with explosives was used to attack the Indian Air Force station in Jammu. The attack is considered to be the first drone attack on any defense establishment in J&K.
