A policeman was shot dead by militants outside his home in Srinagar's Anchar on Tuesday, authourties said, adding that his seven-year-old Daughter was also Injured
Saifullah Qadri of Srinagar's Soura neighbourhood has been confirmed as the cop.
Militants opened fire outside Constable Qadri's residence in Ganaie Mohalla in Anchar region of Srinagar district
"Qadri and his daughter were taken to the adjacent SKIMS hospital, where he scumbbed to his injuries," the official confirmed
The child was shot in the right hand but is no longer in danger.
Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police, expressed sorrow over the incident and stated police teams have been dispatched to nearby locations to apprehend the perpetrators. "They'll be here shortly," he said.
