Srinagar: In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Director General (DG) Anshul Garg on Thursday convened a high-level meeting to review and finalise arrangements across Srinagar.
The meeting focused on ensuring smooth conduct of the festival, with emphasis on public safety, sanitation, traffic management, and uninterrupted essential services during the festive period. Senior officials from the civil administration, police, municipal bodies, and various utility departments attended the review session.
According to officials, detailed instructions were issued to ensure adequate arrangements in markets, mosques, and major congregation points where large gatherings are expected for prayers. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining law and order, crowd regulation, and deployment of additional personnel at sensitive locations.
The administration also reviewed arrangements related to water supply, electricity, and cleanliness in different parts of the city. Municipal authorities have been directed to carry out sanitation drives before and after the celebrations to maintain hygiene standards in public spaces.
Traffic management plans were also discussed to avoid congestion in key areas during peak hours of Eid prayers and market rush. Diversion routes and parking arrangements are expected to be announced shortly for public convenience.
Health department officials have been asked to ensure availability of medical teams and emergency response services in case of any requirement during the festival period. Ambulances and first-aid units will be kept on standby at strategic locations.
Security agencies briefed the meeting on preparedness measures, including deployment plans and coordination between different wings to ensure peaceful celebrations. Officials reiterated that the focus is on facilitating smooth festivities while maintaining a secure environment for residents.
DG Anshul Garg reportedly directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the public during Eid-ul-Adha. He also stressed timely execution of all arrangements and regular monitoring until the conclusion of the festival.
With Eid-ul-Adha approaching, the administration in Srinagar is stepping up efforts to ensure that celebrations are conducted peacefully, with adequate civic and security support for residents across the city.
