President Ram Nath Kovind landed in Srinagar on Sunday on a four-day tour to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh

The President will visit Drass in Ladakh on July 25-28 to pay tribute to the Indian armed services' unwavering courage and sacrifice during the Kargil conflict of 1999 at the Kargil War Memorial on Monday, the 22nd anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, authorities said. 

Due to inclement weather, the President was unable to attend Kargil Vijay Diwas in Drass in 2019, thus he paid his respects by placing a wreath at a war memorial at the Army's 15 Corps headquarters in Badamibagh.

They added that the President will speak at the University of Kashmir's 19th annual convocation on Tuesday.

Traffic on the two approach roads to Raj Bhawan, where Kovind will stay, has been diverted between Sunday and Wednesday as part of security preparations for the President's visit.

According to a traffic department official, traffic has been diverted in several areas of the city, and no traffic is allowed on Foreshore Road, which runs along the famed Dal Lake from the Dalgate to Nishat axis, as well as towards the city centre.
