Ramban Tunnel Collapse: All 10 bodies recovered

"As per LG Manoj Sinha`s directions, a compensation of Rs 15 lakhs each shall be given by the construction company to those who died in the tunnel landslide on NH44. LG also announced Rs 1 lakh ex gratia from the relief fund."

All the 10 bodies have been recovered from the debris of the under-construction Ramban tunnel which collapsed on Thursday night. The bodies were hauled after an hours-long rescue operation. 



The recovery of the bodies was confirmed by Ramban Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Islam.



"All 10 bodies have been recovered and families have been informed. Five of the 10 bodies are from West Bengal. This operation now stands complete. Bodies have been shifted to hospital," Mussarat Islam said.



Meanwhile, Government has announced a compensation of 16 lakh rupees to the families of those who have lost their lives in the tunnel collapse.



"As per LG Manoj Sinha`s directions, a compensation of Rs 15 lakhs each shall be given by the construction company to those who died in the tunnel landslide on NH44. LG also announced Rs 1 lakh ex gratia from the relief fund." Mussarat Islam said.



Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha and the Deputy Commissioner also announced 1 lakh ex gratia from the relief fund to the victims’ families.



Ramban SSP, Mohita Sharma also informed that FIR has been lodged against the construction company.
