To boost tourism in the union territory, the government of Jammu & Kashmir is planning to tap into religious tourism this time around
The government of Jammu & Kashmir wants to ride the wave of success, especially on the back of the successful conduct of the G20.
To captivate mainly the pilgrims in order to promote religious tourism after the record breaking year, the Jammu & Kashmir government has reserved 75 destinations in the region. The decision was taken after looking at last year's record of tourists visiting Jammu & Kashmir in large numbers. According to the official data, the number of tourists that Jammu & Kashmir witnessed last year was over 1 crore. Tourism Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir, Syed Abid Rashid Shah stated that looking at the crowd last year the tourism industry is expecting a tourist in more numbers this year. The reason for the larger numbers of tourists was because of the Jashn-e-Adab—Cultural Karavaan event held. And this year the industry is looking forward to a positive response.
Syed Abid also stated that due to the great response from the crowd Jammu & Kashmir tourism has been expanding attributing the growth to many factors.
Meanwhile ,the governments of Kerala and Tamil Nadu had also carried similar campaigns in Kochi and Chennai, respectively.
