In connection with the IED recovery case, the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) carried out various searches on Tuesday morning in the Pulwama area in south Kashmir.

According to news outlet GNS, which cited a senior police official, the SIU is conducting searches in the Pulwama villages of Jandwal, Armulla, Nillora, and Bandzoo in order to retrieve a 30-kilogramme improvised explosive device (IED) in August of this year.

Two days after a Kashmiri Pandit was murdered by militants in the same district, the two UP labourers were slain when terrorists threw grenades at them in the early hours of Tuesday in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir's Herman hamlet.

A few persons had already been detained in connection with the investigation, the officer claimed.

In August of this year, security personnel and law enforcement officers found an IED that weighed between 25 and 30 kg at the Tahab crossing on the Circular Road in Pulwama.

Similar searches were carried out by the NIA at 50 places around Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and the NCR area on September 12.

The NIA sweep came after the anti-terror agency began looking into this connection after the re-registration of two cases that had previously been filed by the Delhi Police on August 26 of this year.
