SIU RAIDS JeM ASSOCIATE'S HOUSE IN AWANTIPORA, RECOVERS ARMS, AMMUNITION

JeM Associate Arrested in Awantipora, Cache of Arms and Ammunition Recovered

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted al raid at the house of a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) associate in Awantipora, Pulwama district on Saturday.


The raid was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Imtiyaz Hussain. The team recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the house, including two AK-47 rifles, four pistols, and a large number of grenades and ammunition.A local resident, identified as Showkat Ahmad Mir, was arrested from the house. He is being questioned by the SIU team.


The raid comes days after a series of terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. On August 15, a terrorist attack took place in the Anantnag district, in which two policemen were killed. On August 16, another terrorist attack took place in the Pulwama district, in which a civilian was killed.


The SIU raid is a major success for the Jammu and Kashmir Police. It has sent a strong message to the terrorists that they will not be allowed to operate in the state.The raid also comes at a time when the security forces are on high alert in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. The security forces have stepped up their operations against terrorists and their sympathizers.


The SIU is a specialized unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police that is tasked with investigating cases related to terrorism. The unit has been very successful in cracking down on terrorism in the state.The raid in Awantipora is a major success for the SIU and it will hopefully help to deter terrorists from carrying out attacks in the state.
