The police of Jammu and Kashmir received an intelligence output about the presence of terrorists in Pattan's Yedipora village located in district Baramulla. The police, army and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) forces launched a joint cordon-and-search operation in the area.

As the joint search party reached the suspected spot during the search operation, the hidden terrorists started firing indiscriminately on the security forces. In effective retaliation, an encounter unfolded.

According to the police, two local terrorists associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed in the ensuing encounter. They were identified as Aamir Hussain Bhat, resident of Veshro Shopian and Yawar Shafi Bhat, hailing from Kalampora Pulwama.

Both the killed terrorists have been identified as terrorists according to police records. They had recently joined the terrorist ranks. Both of them were also involved in terror crime cases such as civilian atrocities and attacks on police and security forces.
