1 killed, 8 injured in South California shooting

One person was killed and eight injured during an overnight shooting that took place in southern California. The shooting took place at a party attended by more than a hundred people in the Hookah lounge. 

“On Friday, San Bernardino police officers found a man shot in the parking lot outside the strip mall lounge. where the party had been advertised on social media in the city east of Los Angeles,” Sgt. Equino Thomas said.

The man who was shot was declared dead at the scene. He was identified as 20-year-old Allen Gresham, a police statement said.

Eight other people were also shot, suffered injuries, and were rushed to hospitals for treatment. Some of them who were wounded severely were taken by ambulance, whereas others went on their own. Police also said that their injuries were not life-threatening.

Soon after the shooting, two suspects were detained, and one of them was arrested for possessing a stolen gun. Though their identities have not been revealed yet.

“The shooting involving at least two people started inside the hookah lounge after an argument and people spilled into the parking lot, where more shots were fired,” the statement said.
