3rd Aircraft Carrier equipped with Electromagnetic Catapult launched by China

In order to expand its naval range, China launched its third advanced domestic aircraft vessel on Friday. The aircraft launched was named Fujian.

As per the official media report, the launch of the aircraft was followed by a brief ceremony held at Shangai Shipyard.  

Earlier, the launch was slated to take place on April 23 but due to the Omicron spread in the country, the launch was delayed.

China State Shipbuilding Corporation Ltd has built the third aircraft. Fujian is powered by electromagnetic catapults and has a displacement of 80,000 tonnes. The name of the aircraft carrier, Fujian, has based its name on the eastern coastal province of China.

After launching the third aircraft, China is planning to hit the target of 5 aircraft carriers. The fourth carrier is expectedly going to get equipped with nuclear power. The Fujian aircraft carrier equipped with an electromagnetic catapult is also armed with arresting devices.
