China, being one of the largest economies, says the country must get back to normalcy as its zero-Covid strategy is hitting the country hard. Strict rules have been effective in controlling the virus spread, but at the same time, the strict restrictions have harmed the business.

Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday said, “the challenges now are greater than when the pandemic hit hard in 2020. "We are currently at a critical juncture in determining the economic trend of the whole year. "

He further added, "We must seize the time window and strive to bring the economy back onto a normal track."

The country is resonating with the demand from the business leaders that there must be a balance between stopping the spread of the virus and uplifting the sinking economy, and Li’s remark has put on some more weight on the demands.

Currently, China is facing a severe virus outbreak. The highly transmissible Omicron variant is wreaking havoc in the country and the situation there is the worst since the advent of the pandemic in 2019.
