Chinese University’s decision to conduct swimming test 'online' triggers meme fest on internet

As China is once again having a bout with Covid-19, Shanghai University announced that it will conduct swimming test in an online mode. The announcement has sparked a varied reaction from the netizens. 

In some Chinese universities, it is mandatory for students to learn swimming before their graduation, as it is considered to be a pivotal skill and also improves physical fitness.

In view of resurfacing of Covid-19 in the country, the Dean's office at the Chinese university on May 15 announced that the swimming test for senior graduating college students will be conducted online. 

The move attracted colossal attention from the netizens who mocked the decision and immediately produced the content that would make fun of the ‘online swimming test’. With time, several jokes were cracked about the Chinese university’s decision and triggered a full-fledged meme fest on social media.

Some were seen humorously asking whether a “swimming test in the bathtub would be allowed”. Other Twitter users could also be seen working on their laptops in a swimming pool with their swimming glasses on.
