Congress makes changes, but rejects age restrictions and a decision-making board

Following its major brainstorming session in Udaipur, Rajasthan, the Congress has approved the one-man-one-post norm with minor modifications. However, the Working Committee, the party's highest decision-making body, rejected the rebels' request for a Parliamentary Board to replace the Congress Election Committee

Candidates for the Lok Sabha and assembly elections are currently decided by the Election Committee. The idea was met with strong opposition since it was perceived as undermining the Gandhi family's control.

The uniform "One Person, One Post" and "One Family, One Ticket" bills were passed. With its five-year rider, the rule does provide a loophole for the Gandhi family.

The regulation states that family members who want to run for office must have been active for five years, making all three Gandhis – Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra – eligible.
