Dominica withdraws case of ‘illegal entry’ against Mehul Choksi

"I was under the belief that they (Gurmit Singh and Gurjit Bhandal) were RAW agents. Even when I reached Dominica, I heard stories about RAW agents and how they are around islands and places around the world," Mehul Choksi said in a TV interview

Dominica authorities have withdrawn the case of illegal entry into the nation against fugitive Mehul Choksi. He had contested the case and tirelessly claimed that he was abducted from Antigua and Barbuda and taken to Dominica against his will.

Choksi had fled to Antigua in 2018 to evade the persecution in India in connection with Punjab National Bank Scam. Last year, 2021, Choksi went missing from Antigua, and after some time was spotted in the Dominican Islands. There he was arrested for allegedly entering the country illegally.

In a complaint to the Antigua Police, Mehul Choksi claimed he was an Antiguan citizen and was forcibly brought to Dominica, including by agents of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW).

"I was under the belief that they (Gurmit Singh and Gurjit Bhandal) were RAW agents. Even when I reached Dominica, I heard stories about RAW agents and how they are around islands and places around the world," Mehul Choksi said in a TV interview.

"They said they were RAW agents and were taking me for interrogation. They were very tough with me and beat me here and there," he added.

“I took my car to pick her up. I went to her house and she invited me in. I felt nothing wrong. I parked my car opposite her house and went in. She was having a glass of wine. She made me sit on the sofa and within four minutes, a group of people entered from two sides.”

“They said we know who you are and we are taking you for interrogation. Two of them took my hands, two took my legs and I was overtaken by them,” Mehul Choksi said.
