The order issued by Special Judge R. N. Rokde reads, "File your say by April 29. If time permits, then [the] matter will be heard [on the] same date."
Amid escalating Hanuman Chalisa row, the Mumbai Police
have received direction to reply to the bail pleas filed by MP Navneet Rana and
her husband MLA Ravi Rana. The FIR was lodged against the couple for
threatening to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav
Thackeray’s private residence.
The order issued by
Special Judge R. N. Rokdereads, "File your say by April 29. If time
permits, then [the] matter will be heard [on the] same date."
On Monday, Ranas, arrested in the Hanuman Chalisa recital row, approached
the sessions court for bail and stated that their arrest was driven by
political vendetta.
The couple withdrew the bail application before a Bandra magistrate
court that was slated to be heard on Friday. On Sunday, Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana were
remanded to judicial custody.
The pleas filed by the MLA couple before the sessions court further
state that the arrest was made in a hasty manner and without proper investigation.
The pleas also claim that the FIR lodged against them is “completely
arbitrary” and done with “malafide intention”.
