In order to maintain law and
order, Karnataka Police have decided to extend the curfew orders in Hubballi
city till April 23 after witnessing the violence of large scale occurred on
Saturday evening.
The curfew was first imposed from April 17 to
April 20 and after reviewing the situation, authorities took a decision to
extend orders till Saturday, April 23.
The announcement of
extending the curfew came from Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Labhu Ram
on Wednesday. He said the curfew will be imposed in five police station limits
of the South division of Hubballi city.
He also assured the
police is working hard to hunt down the miscreants who were involved in
large-scale violence on Saturday night.
As per the reports, more
than 200 persons have been detained and 115 persons have been arrested so far
in connection with the incident.
Hubballi city, famously
known as ‘Chota Mumbai’, witnessed an
eruption of massive violence in the late hours of Saturday. Thousands of people
were seen gathered in front
of the police station in Hubballi and indulged in enormous violence after the
police refused to hand over the accused youth to them.
The violent mob damaged property and set ablaze several
vehicles and 12 police personnel were also injured in this mob violence.
