Indian IT services major Infosys has been fined €175,000 (around ₹1.9 crore) by France's labour authority over alleged violations of labour regulations during a client project in the country. The penalty follows an investigation into the company's employment practices involving workers deputed to France.
According to French authorities, the action relates to non-compliance with labour rules governing posted workers, including administrative and employment-related obligations. The investigation examined whether the company had adhered to local regulations applicable to employees working in France.
Infosys said it respects the laws and regulations of the countries in which it operates and is reviewing the order. The company added that it is evaluating the available legal options, including the possibility of challenging the penalty through the appropriate judicial process.
The French labour authority stated that the fine was imposed after identifying violations under the country's labour code. However, the order does not affect the company's ongoing operations in France, where Infosys continues to serve clients across multiple sectors.
The development comes as European regulators have increased scrutiny of multinational companies employing cross-border workers, with a focus on ensuring compliance with local labour laws, employee rights and administrative requirements.
Infosys is one of India's largest IT services firms, with operations in more than 50 countries. The company has not indicated any financial impact from the penalty but said it remains committed to maintaining high standards of compliance across its global operations.
