Maha’ Political Turmoil: CM Uddhav Thackeray resigns as chief minister of Maharashtra

Just a few hours ahead of the floor test ordered by the apex court, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has decided to step down from Maharashtra’s chief ministerial seat. He has also announced that he is resigning from the legislative assembly.


The Supreme court, today had directed to prove the majority in the state assembly by going for the floor test. Earlier, Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had asked for the floor test on June 30 after Eknath Shinde and his other associates rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray.


To challenge the floor test, Shiv Sena had moved to the supreme court, but after hearing the case the court had allowed a no-trust vote to be held on June 30.


Earlier, while revolting against Uddhav Thackeray, Eknath Shinde had claimed that nearly 40 out of 55 MLAs are with him.
