The New York grocery store at Buffalo was shrouded in shock when 10 people were shot dead in a "racially motivated" attack by an 18-year-old man on Saturday.

The gunman, at the time of the attack, was wearing a helmet and tactical gear. Soon after the heinous act, he was arrested by the police.

Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia while addressing a news conference said that 10 have died and 3 wounded in the attack and most of the victims were Black.

“The gunman first shot four people in the parking lot of the Tops supermarket, three of them fatally, then went inside and continued firing,” Gramaglia said.

Stephen Belongia, special agent in charge of the FBI's Buffalo field office, while talking to the media, said that the shooting was a hate crime and is further being investigated.

"We are investigating this incident as both a hate crime and a case of racially motivated violent extremism," Belongia said.

Eerie County Sheriff John Garcia labeled the attack as "pure evil."

"It was straight-up racially motivated hate crime from somebody outside of our community," Garcia said.
