Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal suspended from BJP's primary membership

The news came as a result of the party's recent press release.  

The party respects all religions and opposes any ideology that denigrates or degrades any religion or group. 

In its letter of suspension, the BJP saidthat Sharma had stated opinions opposite to the party's on a number of issues, which were in violation of the party'sconstitution.  

Though the party has not issued an official statement, it is understood that the action against Sharma was done in response to her remarks about ProphetMohammed during a debate on Times Now. 

"Every faith has flowered and flourished during the thousands of years of India's history," the party said in a news release signed by National General Secretary Arun Singh.  

All religions are respected by the Bharatiya Janata Party.  

The BJP strongly condemns insults to religious figures and persons of all faiths.  

The Bharatiya Janata Party is also opposed to any ideology that denigrates ordegrades any faith or group.  

The BJP does not support such individuals or ideologies."
