On May 15, Rajiv Kumar, the new Chief Election Commissioner, will take office

Since September 1, 2020, Rajiv Kumar has been a member of India's three-person Election Commission

The Union Law and Justice Ministry stated on Thursday that Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar will take over as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on May 15, after incumbent Sushil Chandra retires on Saturday.



"The President is pleased to nominate Shri Rajiv Kumar as Chief Election Commissioner with effect from May 15, 2022, in accordance with clause (2) of Article 324 of the Constitution." Kiren Rijiju, Union Law Minister, expressed his warmest wishes to Shri Rajiv Kumar.
