Prophet comment row: After Gulf countries, Taliban shoots criticism at India

While condemning the remark on the Prophet, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said, "We urge the Indian government not to allow such fanatics to insult the holy religion of Islam and provoke the feelings of Muslims."

After the Indian government faced a huge backlash over the BJP’s spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s remark on Prophet Mohammad, now the Taliban-led Afghanisation government has targeted India over the row and has firmly expressed its discontent with the remark.


While condemning the remark on the Prophet, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said, "We urge the Indian government not to allow such fanatics to insult the holy religion of Islam and provoke the feelings of Muslims."


He further added, "The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan strongly condemns the use of derogatory words against the Prophet of Islam (Peace be upon him)by an official of the ruling party in India."


So far, around 14 countries have condemned the BJP’s Nupur Sharma’s comment on the Prophet. The countries that have criticized India over the remark include Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE, Jordan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Maldives, Libya, and Indonesia. 


Meanwhile, the Indian government also distanced itself from Sharma’s comment. The BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal from the party.
