Quad pledges $50 billion packages to check China’s influence

Addressing the summit, Prime minister Narendra Modi said the Quad’s ‘constructive agenda’ will strengthen the mutual trust and determination and its image as a ‘force for good’

In the second in-person Quad summit held in Tokyo, 4 nations pledged $50 billion for sustainable and demand-driven infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific regions. The commitment has come to mitigate the influence of China in these regions.



Addressing the summit, Prime minister Narendra Modi said the Quad’s ‘constructive agenda’ will strengthen the mutual trust and determination and its image as a ‘force for good’.



the Quad said in a joint statement said that emphasizes adhering to international law, and focusing on freedom of navigation and overflight, to check the maritime rules-based order, including in the East and South China Seas.



 “We strongly oppose any coercive, provocative, or unilateral actions that seek to change the status quo and increase tensions in the area, such as the militarization of disputed features, the dangerous use of coast guard vessels and maritime militia, and efforts to disrupt other countries’ offshore resource exploitation activities,’’ it said, 



Also, commenting on Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Both the US president Biden and Japanese PM Kishida condemned the invasion and described it as a dark hour in our shared history.
