Congress party is all set to hold a 'Chintan Shivir' in Udaipur under the leadership of its interim President Sonia Gandhi today, May 13. The party is likely going to discuss a strategy to challenge the BJP in the upcoming 2024 General elections.

During the Congress Working Committee meeting held on March 14, most of the Congress leaders demanded that Rahul Gandhi should be roped in as a Congress President.

"Rahul is ready to consider the post. After this, a proposal came in the meeting to hold the election of the President of August-September. However, it was then decided that the ongoing process cannot be preponed," said one of the sources.

After a thumping defeat in 2019, Rahul Gandhi stepped down from the post of Congress president, and Sonia Gandhi was appointed as the party's interim president.

During the next ‘Chintan Shivir’ that will be held in Udaipur, the Congress party will consider the crucial decisions and also will decide who will be the Party’s president.

The ‘Chintan Shivir’ is being held following the party's underperformance in the elections to five state assemblies earlier this year. The party has witnessed several electoral losses in the elections held in the past eight years.

The next Chintan Shivir will commence, today, May 13 with Sonia Gandhi's address to the people and will conclude on May 14 with Rahul Gandhi's speech.
