Reacting to the killing of a woman teacher in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized that terrorism will not end in one day but said that he is confident that the nation will defeat this extremism.

While attending Garib Kalyan Sammelan, Vadodara city, a reporter asked the minister to comment on the killing, to which he responded by saying the Centre is leaving no stone unturned to eradicate terrorism from the valley.

''Our fight against terrorism, which has been going on for several years, will continue. See, terrorism will not end in one day. But, even terrorists know that the present regime is not like the previous government,'' Jaishankar said.

Militants on Tuesday shot dead 36-year-old government teacher, Rajini Bala in the Kulgam district of Kashmir valley. She was severely injured in the attack and was rushed to the hospital but all in vain as she was declared dead on arrival.

''We will take necessary steps against terrorism. Our battle against terrorism will continue and we are confident that we will be successful,'' said the external affairs minister.
